Northern New England has an international reputation for talent...the bench is deep in Boston as well as towns like Newburyport MA, Portsmouth NH, Portland ME and the small towns in between such as Newmarket NH where singer songwriters and original bands are preferred and the norm.
The Bad Backs are New Hampshire based Stan Chew, Chris Pimentel and Tim Sweeney. These three guys are well known in the ME & NH seacoast and Northshore MA music scene having anchored bands such as Billy West and the legendary Lunch At The Dump. But that was then and this is now... now The Bad Backs are different...very different than their impressive origins. The guard rails of style have been striped down, the instruments go beyond traditions while somehow keeping things authentic.
The Bad Backs' sound is a true mix in the fullest form. Inspiration is drawn from a deep background in Indie Folk, Bluegrass, Country, Roots Rock, Alt-Power Pop and Rhythm n Blues. If you like bands such as The Cactus Blossoms, NRBQ, Dawes, Dennis Wilson, Ry Cooder and of course, the early Beatles, you'll love The Bad Backs.
The Bad Backs 2nd album, BACK IN TIME, produced by Nashville producer Charlie Chamberlain, is a dynamic mix of songs ranging from Roots Rock to Country to RnB. All original and very Bad Backs-esque.
L5S1 is The Bad Backs maiden recording. Again, Nashville producer, Charlie Chamberlain steered the 6 songs while maintaining The Bad Backs intent and the songs integrity.
